Alliance Ambulance Services donates first ambulance to Wish Ambulance Scotland
We have given an ambulance to Wish Ambulance Scotland, a new charity in Aberdeen. The charity will use it to take people near the end of their life to a place that matters to them.
What Wish Ambulance Scotland does
Wish Ambulance Scotland plans to offer free trips called Wish Journeys. They are for people near the end of their life who want to visit a special place with the people they love.
This could be:
- their family home
- a favourite beach
- a family wedding
- a football ground
If you are seriously ill, it can be hard or unsafe to travel in a car. Wish Journeys are planned in advance and include medical support on the way.
The service is free. It is not an emergency ambulance service and it does not replace hospital or patient transport.
Who runs the charity
Wish Ambulance Scotland was set up by 3 paramedics: Kieran Hutcheon, Karen Gill and Daniel Bickmore. They have worked in ambulance services, GP practices, events and on film sets.
The charity was registered in Scotland on 24 July 2026. Its charity number is SC055546.
Handing over the ambulance

Archie McCorkell, Director at Alliance Ambulance Services, handed the ambulance to the charity's trustees.
Archie said:
"Our crews see every day how much a journey can mean to someone and their family. We wanted to help Wish Ambulance Scotland get on the road. We're proud that one of our ambulances will take people to the places that matter most to them."
The charity has shared a short film of the new ambulance. It was filmed at Pittodrie, Torry Battery and St Cyrus.
When Wish Journeys will start
Wish Journeys have not started yet, and you cannot ask for one at the moment.
You can see ideas for the inside of the ambulance in a 3D model on the charity's website.
