Special Olympics Anniversary Games 2018
Alliance were delighted to have been selected as the medical provider for the Special Olympics Anniversary Games 2018, hosted at the University of Stirling.
Alliance were able to celebrate the 40th birthday of Special Olympics GB and the 50 years since the founding of the worldwide movement. It was an honour to be amongst 1,200 athletes, 2,500 relatives and 400 coaches and officials from around the world at our footsteps here in Stirling.
In the words of the Professor Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University, “As Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, Stirling is proud to be affiliated with this event, which celebrates the excellent work of the Special Olympics in transforming lives through the joy of sport while striving to end discrimination.”
Alliance were able to witness athletes competing at the highest level in a wide range of sports – including swimming, cycling, football and table tennis. We managed to catch a few of our local sporting heroes from all four corners of our home nations which made it even more special. One of the most enjoyable things about the Games was witnessing the opening ceremony to the Games and having the opportunity to meet the teams and take photos with everyone including the Games mascot ‘Wallace’.
Our dedicated staff provided medical cover for all athletes, family and friends.
