Alliance Ambulance Services featured in global Stryker campaign

Moving patients to and from their homes is a challenging task, often requiring delicate handling. Alliance Ambulance Services has grown since its start in 2018. Protecting our team and improving patient care are our priorities.

To address the challenge of moving patients on stairs, we adopted the Stryker Xpedition powered stair chair.

Our service has been selected as a global case study by medical technology company Stryker. We are featured in a campaign showcasing innovative practices in patient transport.

Moving patients manually on stairs can be uncomfortable and distressing for the patient. The Xpedition chair makes this process smoother.

Our fleet manager, Ronnie, explains the difference this makes for the patient: "Patients feel more confident and secure when they are going up the stairs. They don't feel like they are falling back."

The technology supports patients up to 35 stone (225kg) and ensures they sit at a better angle during the transfer.

For our clinically trained staff, moving heavy patients manually on stairs is a common cause of injury. The Xpedition eliminates the physical strain of this activity. Features like integrated LED lighting ensure the safety of our teams when operating in poorly lit areas.

We believe that discharging a patient from the hospital should be safe and dignified. Investing in this equipment ensures that accessibility barriers do not prevent a patient from returning home.

As our Director, Archie McCorkell, says: "This innovation has allowed us to care better for our patients and protect our team."
